Sir Hogs-a-Lot’s Mazda MX5!

The White Hat Rally is soon approaching and the Hedgehog Security team can’t wait!

We shared photos before of Sir Tainty of Breach’s RX7 and we have photos of the other car we’ll be using for the rally here:

Mixie Five, crewed by husband and wife Peter and Isabella, is a Mazda MX5 born in the year 2001. She is the dainty sister of the team but don’t let her cute looks fool you!

Fully rally prepared for both stage and circuit, Mixie Five is built to full MSA Bluebook specification. Under the bonnet she sports a 271 BHP 1.8 litre normally aspirated engine. With a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds, she doesn’t hang about but at full throttle she is a thirsty lady and will drink 0.72 litres of super unleaded every minute.

All teams are raising funds for the wonderful children and young people’s charity, Barnardo’s.

The team at Hedgehog Security can’t wait to get their clue-deciphering hats on for the upcoming White Hat Rally! Why not take a look at a few photos of one of the two cars we will be using for the event:

Miyuki-chan is a 19 year old exotic beauty born in Hiroshima, Japan, with pilot Steve and co-pilot Cassandra. The RX7 is one of the few rotary engine cars to go into mass production, originally a 1.3 twin-turbo charged two rotor engine producing 265hp. The car has been reworked to produce 420hp and lightened down to a breezy 1180kg, in a sleek stylish 90’s kind of way. 0-60 comes in around 4 seconds with a top speed in excess of 180 mph. Other than ABS there are no driver aids at all, Miyuki is always an event to take out on the road no matter the conditions.

Don’t ask about fuel consumption, she’s an expensive lady with expensive taste!

(Also flames come out of the back when you change gear).

The rally is raising money for Barnardo’s, a great charity that supports vulnerable children and young people across the UK.

Did you know:
£20 could pay for a “survival kit” of basic essentials such as shampoo, toothpaste and soap for an abused girl who has fled her home with nothing.
£105 could provide an abused child with three vital sessions with a psychologist to help them rebuild their life.
£1,000 would cover the cost of an ‘outreach worker’ for 3 weeks.

Any amount you can donate to Barnardo’s is greatly appreciated, if you would like to donate please click here, thank you!

Peter Bassill: Quick Fire Interview

The Hedgehog Security team spoke with CEO Peter Bassill to get his thoughts on the upcoming White Hat Rally and how he’s preparing for it:

What made you want to get involved with the White Hat Rally?

The children

What aspect of the White Hat Rally are you looking forward to the most?

The drive

How do you think you’ll fare with the clue-deciphering part of the rally?

We’re a husband and wife team, we will end up lost and in a pub.

Can you tell us a bit about the car you’ll be driving?

Mixie is a race prepared MX5, built in 2000. She is a great little car but not the most comfortable thing to drive over distance.

What can you tell us about your team and how they’re preparing for the rally?

We have checked out all the menus of the pubs in the area and are compiling a list of places for lunch.

What sparked your passion for racing?

I don’t know. I’ve been racing for a while

What has been your favourite moment in motor racing so far?

Driving the Audi R8 LMS around Donnington national circuit. It was an extremely powerful car and I culled a clear 14 seconds from my previous best on the circuit.

Where is your favourite race circuit?

Brands Hatch, the Indy circuit mind. For such a small circuit, there is only really one straight and even that isn’t exactly straight. My personal best 50.22 seconds.
